Sber reports 200-fold increase in Russia–India payment processing speed
Sber reports that cross-border payment processing speeds between Russia and India have improved significantly in recent years. In 2022, transactions typically took between one and two days to complete. Today, payments are processed in under 10 minutes.
Turnover in national currencies between the two countries has also expanded markedly over the same period, increasing twelvefold.
Alexander Vedyakhin noted that the number of Russian and Indian companies operating through Sber has grown sixfold. The bank has also seen rising interest among Russian businesses in settling transactions directly in Indian rupees with counterparties in countries that maintain close trade ties with India.
In addition to financial services, Sber supports companies in recruiting specialists from India. The bank offers a targeted hiring service in partnership with the Russian employment platform Rabota.ru. This enables employers to manage the entire process—from searching for candidates to employee adaptation in Russia—within a single coordinated framework.
Indian employees working in Russia can transfer funds to their families without delays, while employers benefit from integrated banking services within a single-window model.
