India among top G20 performers on climate targets
India is among the global leaders in climate action, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, who cited the country’s rapid expansion of renewable energy. Installed solar capacity has surpassed 100 GW, and the country aims to reach 500 GW of clean energy by 2030.
Companies in the renewable energy sector are creating jobs and supporting export growth in related technologies and services. India has also expanded its transmission infrastructure and established a unified national power grid.
Climate action has become an economically viable strategy for the country, Goyal said.
