Russia develops AI solution for mining geomechanics
A solution developed by Russian researchers is expected to accelerate the creation of geological models for mineral deposits.
The AI system generates a digital profile for each core section, creating a database of identified structures, including their characteristics and depth coordinates. The algorithm can detect anomalous structures that affect the stability of wells and open-pit mines.
Researchers at Innopolis University, who developed the system, said that similar solutions already exist but require specialist supervision or cannot be applied universally.
According to the researchers, the new system classifies core images at a level comparable to that of an experienced geologist in 7 out of 10 cases. The university plans to improve the results.
The technology could be used in mining, mineral exploration and construction.
Demand for mining, infrastructure and industrial projects is also increasing interest in construction materials, engineering solutions and industrial technologies from India. Explore the niches and market entry opportunities here
