BRICS countries launch technology-sharing platform for employment

India launched BRICS CONNECT, a platform for the systematic exchange of expertise and technologies, during its 2026 BRICS chairmanship. BRICS members will work together to improve workforce skills and train specialists in high-demand fields in line with emerging technological trends. The initiative will focus on the digitalisation of processes, social protection for workers and the formalisation of employment.

The ministers also presented their national approaches to these issues. India shared its experience with an online platform for workers in the informal sector. More than 315 million people are registered on the platform, giving them access to government support. Representatives from Brazil praised the Indian model and plan to study the country’s experience with a view to adapting it.

Following the meeting, the BRICS ministers adopted a declaration. This document includes provisions on strengthening the role of women in the labour market, introducing digital tools and further formalising employment.
